Academia - Industry Collaborations

“The correlation and collaboration between society and education are so complex that simplified explanations cannot possibly give an adequate account of them. This remark is valid for the tasks which education assigns to society and society to education reciprocally.” -The UNESCO Report,1997on ‘ Learning to Be’.

MKSSS’s Smt. Hiraben Nanavati Institute of Management and Research for Women (HNIMR) has undertaken several initiatives to strengthen academia-industry tie-ups, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical industry requirements.

Here are some of their efforts:

Industry-Integrated Curriculum: HNIMR has developed a curriculum that incorporates industry-relevant topics and case studies. This ensures that students are equipped with practical knowledge and skills that are directly applicable in the workplace.

Guest Lectures and Workshops: The institute regularly organizes guest lectures and workshops conducted by industry experts. These sessions provide students with insights into current industry trends, challenges, and best practices.

Industry Visits and Internships: HNIMR facilitates industry visits for students to gain first-hand experience of organizational operations. Additionally, the institute encourages and supports students in securing internships with reputed companies, enabling them to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings.

Collaborative Projects: Collaborative projects with industry partners are encouraged, where students work on real-life business problems or research topics proposed by industry sponsors. This fosters practical learning, enhances problem-solving skills, and strengthens relationships with industry stakeholders.

Industry Advisory Board: HNIMR maintains an industry advisory board comprising professionals from various sectors. This board provides guidance on curriculum relevance, skill development needs, and industry expectations, ensuring alignment between academic offerings and industry requirements.

Skill Development Programs: The institute conducts skill development programs and certifications in collaboration with industry bodies or specialized training providers. These programs focus on enhancing specific skills demanded by employers, such as communication, leadership, and technical expertise.

Placement Assistance: HNIMR offers dedicated placement assistance and career counseling services to students, facilitating their transition from academia to industry. The institute maintains strong relationships with recruiters and organizes campus recruitment drives to connect students with job opportunities.

Research and Consultancy: Faculty members engage in research and consultancy projects with industry relevance. This not only contributes to knowledge creation but also strengthens ties with industry partners through collaborative initiatives.

By actively nurturing academia-industry collaborations through these initiatives, MKSSS’s Smt. Hiraben Nanavati Institute of Management and Research for Women equips its students with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience necessary to excel in their chosen careers and make meaningful contributions to the industry.
