Demonstrating a strong commitment to community engagement and sustainable development, MKSSS’s Smt. Hiraben Nanavati Institute of Management and Research for Women (HNIMR), Pune, organized a rural outreach initiative under its Community Development Cell at Kondhur Village on April 22, 2026. A total of 41 MBA Junior students, accompanied by 3 faculty members, actively participated in the initiative. The students were divided into three groups, each led by a faculty member, to conduct house-to-house surveys focusing on reducing carbon footprints, cleanliness, and environmental awareness. Each group covered approximately 10 households, interacting directly with villagers to understand their practices and create awareness about sustainable living. The survey emphasized practical measures such as reducing plastic usage, energy conservation, and maintaining cleanliness in daily life.
In addition to the survey, volunteer students conducted interactive awareness sessions at the Zilla Parishad School, Kondhur Village. The sessions focused on key themes including:
- Healthcare & Yoga for physical and mental well-being
- Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their relevance in daily life
- Carbon Footprint Reduction and environmental responsibility
The sessions were designed to be engaging and participative, encouraging school children to adopt healthy habits and environmentally responsible behavior from an early age. The initiative provided students with valuable experiential learning, enabling them to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings. It also fostered essential skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and social responsibility. Speaking on the occasion, faculty coordinators emphasized that such initiatives play a vital role in shaping socially conscious management professionals. The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Priyanka Singh, Director, HNIMR, and coordinated by the Community Development Cell. This outreach activity reflects HNIMR’s ongoing commitment to community development, sustainability, and holistic student learning, aligning academic excellence with meaningful societal contribution.
