The two day NAAC Sponsored workshop was organized on 4th and 5th March 2022. The workshop was conducted both in the online and offline mode.
The day one of the event began with the speech by Director Dr. Surya Ramdas and welcome by Dr. Mihika Kulkarni.at 10.30 a.m. For the inaugural ceremony Dr. Amit Mittal, Dean, Chitkara Business School was a Key note speaker and gave speech on the topic how to choose right topic for research. He discussed about fallacy of research gap and highlighted the importance of referring special issues of the leading journals.
The second session was conducted by Dr.Nakul Parmeshwar, Assistant Professor, Department of Entrepreneurship and Management from., Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad on how to write academic article from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. He discussed about the essentials for choosing the topic for writing article, anatomy of article to meet criteria like novelty, curiosity, technicality theoretical implications. He encouraged researchers to choose bold ideas using less conventional approaches to benefit multiple stakeholders.
The third session was conducted by Dr. Deepika Pandita, Associate Professor Human Resources Symbiosis Institute of Business Management Pune an Associate Professor at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune on the topic ‘Research Proposals” from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
She discussed on the content of research proposals, its quality and length. Dr. Deepika also emphasized on writing quality research papers in Scopus index journals and how to choose topic to write the research proposals.
The day two started with the speech delivered on the topic “Referencing” by Dr. Supriya Patil, IQAC Head, Dept of Commerce (Additional Charge), Professor and Program Coordinator MBA (Pharma-BT), Department of Management Sciences, Savitribai Phule Pune University from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Dr. Supriya Patil discussed about significance of adding right referencing .She discussed about various referencing styles like APA,Vancouver, MLA,Chicago etc.
The session from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. was delivered by Dr. Rashmi Hebalkar,a Research Consultant from Pune who delivered on the topic”Plagiarism”who explained how to use software for plagiarism testing. How to write with different techniques like paraphrasing.
The last session was conducted by Dr. R. Srinivas Director, JBIMS who discussed about the thesis writing skills and other important aspects of research with framing right objectives, designing questionnaire and framing research methodology.
The Valedictory session was graced by Dr. R. Srinivas Sir, Director and delivered his key note address.Also Dr. Surya Ramdas Director and Dr. Mihika Kulkarni co-ordinator were present.
Outcome of the workshop
Academic writing skills workshop helped the participants with the creation and dissemination of ‘reliable’ knowledge, respecting different ways of life, The workshop familiarized the participants with different aspects of academic writing..
The workshop helped the participants to improve their academic writing skills in order to succeed in studies and in career. The workshop provided maximum hands-on practice for participants. The sessions included explanations, examples, exercises, and texts to help the participants develop techniques for working productively at different stages of the scholarly writing process.
