The session on the topic Climate responsiveness in Business: Why and How? was conducted on 12th May 2022 from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm for which the guest speaker was Dr.Priyadarshini Karve,Managing Director at Samuchit Enviro Tech. .
Priyadarshini ma’am talked about how environment has got affected since last so many years due to the birth of different businesses and industries.
She has started her session with reference of history. She gave the students all the information about Technology innovation, Discovery innovation, Steam engine innovation, Deforestation due to steam machines etc. also ma’am gave the reference of how British came with East India Company and many other European invaders broke down all the local businesses of India. She then explained how planet and people along with businesses had changed throughout different centuries like 19th, 20th, and 21st century.
In the second half she has talked about how labor laws came in 20th century, how slavery abolished in Europe first, conflict of Environment vs. Development etc. Also, she warned students saying that ‘’ Next couple of years are going to be crucial, we have to pay back’’. Also ma’am explained the biological carbon cycle and Geological carbon cycle,the generation of coal and petroleum and carbon dioxide getting trapped in the atmosphere.
Later she talked about how different gases are harming earth. She has given example of HFC and CFC gases, supported by shocking statistics.
In the concluding part of her session, she explained what is actually global warming and how it happens. And after that she talked about impacts and solutions for the same, and concluded her session. Students found this session very insightful…!
