Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din is celebrated every year on 27th February to honor the birth anniversary of Maharashtrian poet Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar (Kusumagraj).
As a tribute to Dnyanpeeth awardee Marathi poet Kusumagraj for his significant contribution in the cultural field of Maharashtra, Kusumagraj’s birthday on 27th February was declared as “Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din” as per the decision of Maharashtra government on 21st January 2013. He has contributed significantly in increasing the honor of Marathi literature as a dramatist, poet, etc.
HNIMR celebrated this auspicious day with students and staff as follows:
- Link to Marathi poems and related literature were sent to users
- On the occasion of 350th Shivarajyabhishekh, e-books on Shivaji Maharaj were sent to students and staff to awaken the thoughts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj amongst students and staff.
- Library conducted e-Quiz for students and staff on Marathi Literature.
- Library also arranged display of selected Marathi Books and selected poems of Kusumagraj were displayed in library to motivate users to issue and read Marathi literature.
Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din was conducted under the guidance of Director Dr. Surya Ramdas by Librarian Mrs. Manjushree Nawale along with library staff Mrs. Minal Kotwal.
