Hello everyone,
I am Akshayaa Joshi, currently pursuing my MBA in Human Resources at MKSSS’s Smt. Hiraben Nanavati Institute of Management and Research for Women. Today, I am thrilled to share my journey as a member of the Student Council, a role that has profoundly shaped my experience here.
My journey began during the induction program in 2023, where senior council members of the batch 2022-2024 passionately introduced us to their roles and responsibilities. Their dedication and camaraderie immediately sparked my interest. What struck me most was how they didn’t just manage tasks; they created a supportive community where every voice mattered.
One person who particularly inspired me was Nameera Shaikh, the President of the Student Council for 2023-2024. Her ability to navigate responsibilities with such grace and efficiency left a lasting impression on me. Observing her, I knew I wanted to contribute in a similar capacity.
Encouraged by senior members and driven by a desire to make a difference across various cells, including sports—a personal interest of mine—I decided to contest the elections for the position of President for the academic year 2024-2025. It wasn’t an easy decision, but the overwhelming support from my peers convinced me to take the leap.
The election process was nerve-wracking, to say the least. As the votes were counted under the watchful eyes of our director, I held my breath. When it was announced that I had secured the highest votes, it was a moment of immense pride and gratitude.
Soon after, I faced my first major challenge: organizing our annual awards event. Working alongside my fellow council members, we meticulously planned every detail and executed the event flawlessly. The positive feedback we received from professors and peers alike was incredibly rewarding.
Another significant event was organizing the farewell for our beloved seniors. From managing budgets to coordinating logistics and ensuring every detail aligned with our theme, it was a whirlwind of responsibilities. Yet, seeing the smiles on our seniors’ faces made every effort worthwhile.
Throughout these experiences, I discovered strengths and qualities within myself that I hadn’t fully recognized before. The unwavering support of my college and the trust placed in me by my peers fueled my determination to excel.
Looking ahead, I am filled with excitement for the upcoming year. I am eager to embark on new projects and events that will not only enhance my skills but also contribute positively to our college community. This journey has been transformative, and I am grateful for every moment of it.
