Certificate Course on Technical Analysis: Advanced Strategies for Investment

The Smt. Hiraben Nanavati Institute of Management & Research for Women (HNIMR) organized a three-day Certificate Course on Technical Analysis: Advanced Strategies for Investment for students specializing in MBA Finance. Mr. Amit Amale from Precision Technical Analysis Pvt. Ltd. led the sessions, giving students substantial exposure to practical trading and investment strategies used in financial markets. The workshop began by exploring different trading profiles, including day trading, intraday trading, positional trading, and investment approaches. Students learned how predefined criteria help traders choose suitable strategies based on market conditions and their investment goals. The expert also explained the roles of Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis in evaluating securities and market opportunities.

The sessions included various chart types and market theories that describe price movements, market trends, consolidation phases, and sideways movements. Participants learned how to identify appropriate entry and exit points. They practiced analyzing stock charts using Open, High, Low, and Close (OHLC) data, along with moving averages and breakout strategies like Open-Low and High-Low techniques. Advanced chart pattern identification was demonstrated through practical exercises involving breakout formations, flag patterns, and trend continuation strategies. Students practiced calculation techniques and strategy formulation based on chart structures and liquidity zones. Technical indicators such as RSI and Stochastic Oscillator helped identify buy, sell, and indecision signals while analyzing multiple stocks in practical sessions.

A significant part of the course focused on Derivatives Market concepts, including Futures, Forwards, and Options trading. The course discussed Call and Put Options, Strike Price, Premium calculation, Bullish (Teji) and Bearish (Mandi) trends, arbitrage opportunities, circuit filters, short selling, and long positions in detail. Participants also learned about option sentiment indicators like the Put-Call Ratio (PCR). On Day 3, held in the Computer Lab from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, students took part in intensive hands-on practice sessions. They analyzed live market charts, applied technical indicators, and evaluated 10-12 stocks using parameters such as opening price, closing price, RSI values, stochastic oscillators, and chart patterns to make trading decisions. The focus was on implementing stop-loss strategies, managing risks, and planning structured trades to improve readiness for real markets. To evaluate participants’ understanding and successfully complete the 24-hour Certificate Course, a Post-Assessment Test was conducted. The assessment tested conceptual clarity, analytical skills, and practical application of technical and derivative market strategies learned during the program.

The certificate course was organized under the guidance of Dr. Priyanka Singh (Director) and coordinated by Prof. Ranjana Gogate (Coordinator, Certificate Course Cell).
