Horizon 2016 (An envisioned approach beyond….)
[Inter-institute summer research project presentation competition.]

On 14th October 2016, mega event ‘Horizon-2016’, inter-institute summer research project presentation competition was conducted by HNIMR. The competition was for post graduate MBA students as well as undergraduate students. The competition was organized by the students of institute under the guidance of internal faculty Professor Dr. Rachana Shikhare (Event Head) & Dr. Mihika Kulkarni (Research Centre Head). The program started with inaugural session graced by the Chief Guest Ms. Vaishali Phatak – Group Head TechMahindra Ltd-Pune followed by address made by Director- HNIMR, Dr. Jagdish Pol.

The Event was managed by students namely Yogita Kharche , Swapnali Tupe , Yashgauravi Tawade & Shweta Doye. Around 17 participants from various management institute participated in the competition. The crucial judging and sharing valuable inputs was done by the panel of experts who were from both corporate and academic area. In the pre-lunch session the judges for the competition were Ms. Sonali Shirwadkar – from EQ Technologies –Pune & Dr. Yashvardhan Mithare from Desai College- Pune. In the post lunch session, the judges for the competition were Ms. Sonal Dalal- Director Pitons Systems-Pune & Dr. Shailesh Natu Freelance Research Consultant-Pune.

All the presentations were made on the basis of actual work done by the students in their summer internship project (SIP). In these presentations participants explained their topics of presentations in brief. They explained the technical terms if any, what sort of work was given to them during their summer internship project. They also gave a brief introduction about the company they worked with.
Apart from all these things, one of the most interesting things in all the presentations was observations made by the participants. Participants actually conducted a research in their respective organizations. They tried to find the problem or changes to be made in the organization. They collected data using various primary & secondary data collecting techniques. They made observations on the basis of collected data. Also, they submitted this analysis to their respective organizations & suggested some measures to control or face the issues. Every participant had different ways of solving the issue on the basis of observations & analysis done by them. The research methodology based part of the presentation was very interesting & gave brief idea about how such targets are to be achieved with the help of data & observations

At the end of the day, Valedictory Programme was chaired by Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur VP- Corporate Affairs, Legal & HR-from City Corporation Ltd-Pune. The winning participants were declared and 3 Main prizes and 1 consolation prize was awarded in Internal and external category separately.

Judges decided the winners on the basis of research methodology, content analysis, relevance of the topic to the present context, presentation quality & its overall impact. On the basis of judges decision Abhijeet Dhasi from MITSOM & Shrishti Hemant from HNIMR won the ‘Horizon 2016’competition. Their topics of research were ‘Study & analysis of Quality Systems in Endurance technologies Ltd.’ & ‘Third-party Shipment’ respectively. This whole competition was very helpful for both Senior and Junior MBA the students. From this competition, students got a brief glimpse about the tasks to be performed under all the specializations including operations, marketing, international business, finance etc. It gave them fair idea about how a project is to be completed on the basis of practical knowledge gained in summer internship project. As per the feedback received from the students from internal and other colleges too , Horizon2016 SIP competition was overall very informative, interesting & intellectual gathering.
