Horizon 2016 (An envisioned approach beyond….)
[Inter-institute summer research project presentation competition.]

On 14th October 2016, mega event ‘Horizon-2016’, inter-institute summer research project presentation competition was conducted by HNIMR. The competition was for post graduate MBA students as well as undergraduate students. The competition was organized by the students of institute under the guidance of internal faculty Professor Dr. Rachana Shikhare (Event Head) & Dr. Mihika Kulkarni (Research Centre Head). The program started with inaugural session graced by the Chief Guest Ms. Vaishali Phatak – Group Head TechMahindra Ltd-Pune followed by address made by Director- HNIMR, Dr. Jagdish Pol.

The Event was managed by students namely Yogita Kharche , Swapnali Tupe , Yashgauravi Tawade & Shweta Doye. Around 17 participants from various management institute participated in the competition. The crucial judging and sharing valuable inputs was done by the panel of experts who were from both corporate and academic area. In the pre-lunch session the judges for the competition were Ms. Sonali Shirwadkar – from EQ Technologies –Pune & Dr. Yashvardhan Mithare from Desai College- Pune. In the post lunch session, the judges for the competition were Ms. Sonal Dalal- Director Pitons Systems-Pune & Dr. Shailesh Natu Freelance Research Consultant-Pune.

All the presentations were made on the basis of actual work done by the students in their summer internship project (SIP). In these presentations participants explained their topics of presentations in brief. They explained the technical terms if any, what sort of work was given to them during their summer internship project. They also gave a brief introduction about the company they worked with.
Apart from all these things, one of the most interesting things in all the presentations was observations made by the participants. Participants actually conducted a research in their respective organizations. They tried to find the problem or changes to be made in the organization. They collected data using various primary & secondary data collecting techniques. They made observations on the basis of collected data. Also, they submitted this analysis to their respective organizations & suggested some measures to control or face the issues. Every participant had different ways of solving the issue on the basis of observations & analysis done by them. The research methodology based part of the presentation was very interesting & gave brief idea about how such targets are to be achieved with the help of data & observations

At the end of the day, Valedictory Programme was chaired by Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur VP- Corporate Affairs, Legal & HR-from City Corporation Ltd-Pune. The winning participants were declared and 3 Main prizes and 1 consolation prize was awarded in Internal and external category separately.

Judges decided the winners on the basis of research methodology, content analysis, relevance of the topic to the present context, presentation quality & its overall impact. On the basis of judges decision Abhijeet Dhasi from MITSOM & Shrishti Hemant from HNIMR won the ‘Horizon 2016’competition. Their topics of research were ‘Study & analysis of Quality Systems in Endurance technologies Ltd.’ & ‘Third-party Shipment’ respectively. This whole competition was very helpful for both Senior and Junior MBA the students. From this competition, students got a brief glimpse about the tasks to be performed under all the specializations including operations, marketing, international business, finance etc. It gave them fair idea about how a project is to be completed on the basis of practical knowledge gained in summer internship project. As per the feedback received from the students from internal and other colleges too , Horizon2016 SIP competition was overall very informative, interesting & intellectual gathering.

Industrial Trek at ESI Corporation

On 10th Oct. 2016 HNIMR girls were at the regional office of ‘The Employee State Insurance Corporation’ for a industrial trek.

Mr.Rajesh Singh, ESIC oriented students on the provisions of ‘The Employee State Insurance Act’, why it is needed and the  applicability of the provisions of the act.

He gave tips to our ‘future HR managers – our HR specialisation students’ about practical criticalities while dealing with cases of  ‘insured person’ under ESI.

He also briefed students about the current and future initiatives which ESIC is taking towards reducing the complexities of processes and improving facilities at the ESIC hospitals.

Book Shelf Activity for MBA Students by HNIMR Library

BOOK SHELF ACTIVITY’ was organized on 29.09.16 for MBA Students by HNIMR LIBRARY.

The Chief Guest for the event were Mr. Milind Lele, Trustee, MKSSS. Mr. Shrirang Chitale, renowned industrialist and Ms. Mrudul Deswandikar, renowned Psychologist and Poet were the Judges for the Activity. Prof. N D Patil, LMC Chairman, HNIMR also graced the occasion by his presence at Valedictory Session.

The main objective of the event was to make students read reference books in management and also make them understand ‘How to write a Book Review’. Students were divided in groups and each group had to choose one book of their choice. They had to read the book and make Poster/Model, PPT Presentations and also write a review on the Book. It was a competition and prizes were declared to three best presentations among 12 groups. Apart from top three prizes, individual prizes for Best Poster, Best Model, Best Book Review and Best PPT were also given

Chief Guest of the event Mr. Milind Lele highlighted the importance of reference reading for management students.

The event was an excellent platform for students to browse and read different books in management, explore research perspectives and also a lesson to work in teams to achieve success.

The event was coordinated by Librarian, Manjushree K Nawale under the guidance of Director, Dr. Jagdish N Pol.

HNIMR Girls on Industrial Trek at ‘Labour Court’

Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha’s, management college – “Hiraben Nanavati Institute of Management and Research for  Women”, did always believed in giving practical exposer to students through ‘Industrial Treks’ and ‘Study visits’ along with  conventional classroom teaching.

This time, to improve students’ understanding of statutory compliances and Labour Laws, the institute took them on a  ‘Industrial Trek’ at ‘Labour Court ‘.

This trek was arranged on 22nd Sep. 2016, wherein students observed closely the proceedings in Labour Court rooms. Mr. Palande  and Mr. Mitkari – From LC office oriented students briefly on the processes and work at the ‘Labour Court’ :

  1. Enforcement of various Labour Laws.
  2. Role of HR in minimising the Labour disputes.
  3. Cases filed in Labour Court.

This visit gave conceptual clarity to students.

Report of Marketing Conclave:2016

MKSSS’s Smt. Hiraben Nanavati Instiute of Management and Research for Women organised a Marketing Conclave:2016 on 20th  September, 2016 on Agri-Marketing.

Tracing the Footprints (Corporate Alumnae Panel Discussion and Mentoring Session)

Saturday, 24th Sep’16 was indeed a great day for HNIMR having interaction of experienced past students with MBA first year students during the event “Tracing the Footprints”.

“Tracing the Footprint” consists of panel discussion of experienced alumnae from corporate or who are entrepreneurs. The session was followed by Corporate mentoring session consists of one-to-one interaction between past and present students. The moderator of panel discussion was Ms. Madhura Shejawalkar, MBA Jr. Student.

The event was manged by SCC In-charge, Ms. Swapnali Tupe and Ms. Swapnali Parchande and student volunteers of Alumnae Cell under the guidance of Prof. Suvarna Dhamdhere, Cell In-charge, Prof. Pranita Sonar, Cell Coordinator and Dr. Jagdish Pol, Director, HNIMR. Alumnae appreciated efforts of all the volunteers. They also noticed and expressed positive changes in operations of the Institute and pedagogy and value addition sessions get offered to MBA juniors and seniors.
