As a part of the innovative idea of a Corporate Trek proposed by the Director Sir, Dr. Jagdish Pol;
The first Corporate visit arranged by IT Department was at Tech Mahindra Ltd – Pune at Hinjewadi on 18th September 2014. The operations department too accompanied the trek.
The main objective of this visit was; to understand the corporate culture, the skill-set required and expected from a candidate before entering into the corporate world, gathering information about the various job profiles available in IT, hierarchies existing in an organization and last but not the least to evaluate if how broad is the gap between what we study in classrooms and what is expected from us in corporate arena.
The Learnings outcomes were as follows;
A brief overview was given of various clientele association of Tech Mahindra and the major business sectors that Tech Mahindra is into and the acquisition of Tech Mahindra with Satyam. “Young CEO” is an initiative taken up to boost the potential of employees wherein the employees are given full freedom to start with a new idea and to work on it in their own way.
One of the speaker shared his views that, managers along with their analytical, logical and management skills must possess some of the technical skill-set. One has to get his hands-on proficiency in at least one particular technology so as to retain in IT.
A sneak preview of vibrant culture of Tech Mahindra was given wherein various festivals are celebrated and the employees are kept amused with several amusement programs. Albeit work-life balance is vital and to achieve success hard work is the only ladder.
Training and development in technical and behavioral aspects are very much essential to keep up the professional skill-sets polished and to upgrade oneself too. Multiple methodologies are applied for making the e-learning experience effective. A walk through the e-learning methodologies was given at the end of the visit.
This visit was very much successful due to the very well planned sessions, partial campus walk scheduled by the company and of course due to the 100% participation from the students of IT & Operations.
